Description

What this product does: This is an external power bank (battery pack) can charge itself from a 12V solar panel of any size while simultaneously charging devices. Useful capacity after conversion losses is about 70 watt-hours. This power bank can be charged using the 120-240V ac charger (included) or using a 12-V solar panel (sold separately) or it can charge over the USB-C connector if you have a USB PD charger. Optional AC plug adapters are available for EU, UK and Australia plug types.

POWER OUTPUTS:

  • 1x USB Quick Charge (5V/2A),
  • 1x USB-C PD (up to 44W)
  • 1x Hi-Voltage Laptop Port (adjustable to 12V/6A, 16V/5A, 19V/4.5A or 24V 3.5A)

Recommended use(s): Add 12V solar panels for a portable solar charging station powering Laptops @ 19V DC or over USB-C, tablets & phones or LED projectors.

Advantages of this product: This system is lightweight and small, ideal for temporary portable setups when you’re on the go. It stores enough energy to charge most phones nine times, tablets more than once or a laptop one time. It has multiple output choices including USB-C. Additionally, it has DC output with four select-able dc voltages suitable for laptop computers, projectors etc. with ten different tip adapters. The USB and dc ports can be used simultaneously.

This power bank can be charged directly from a 12-V, 20-W solar panel. Smaller panels will also work, but probably will take more than a full day to charge the unit. Larger panels won’t harm the device and will allow the device to charge quicker in cloudy or low-sunlight conditions. The panel will need a 5.5 mm x 2.1 mm DC barrel connector plug on the end to connect to the charging port on the Voltaic V88.

Recommended Portable Solar Panels: Our 20W Thin-Film or, for charging in under 3 hours the Rockpals 60W folding panel works great. Both come with the correct plug.

This power bank may be carried in luggage on the airlines. Most airlines will require you to put it in your carry-on bags.

Disadvantages of this product: The cords are short and possibly confusing to some users because the input and output plugs look the same. This product is not suitable for permanent daily off-grid use due to limited recharge cycles (~500) and the short cords. Consider our Half-Pint system instead for permanent village use.

Shipping Restrictions: These can NOT be shipped by DHL, but they can be hand-carried on airlines in carry-on bags. Can be shipped by ground or sea freight.

Additional notes: The internal battery is rated at 88 Wh, but, as always, there are conversion losses. When using the 19-V output @ 2A it provides ~70 Wh.
