Description

What this product does: The Explorer 510 BGAN uses the Inmarsat satellite system to connect laptops, smartphones and tablets to the Internet, plus allows you to make voice calls with a smartphone.

Recommended use(s): The Explorer 510 works like a WiFi hotspot, providing broadband Internet access at speeds up to 464 kbps to computers, smartphones and tablets. Install the “Explorer Connect” app on your smartphone, to make voice calls over the satellite link.

Advantages of this product: Smaller than a standard laptop and weighing about three pounds (1.4 kg), the Explorer 510 BGAN satellite terminal is easy to carry along when traveling the world. No bulky satellite dish antenna is required.

Disadvantages of this product: You pay by the minute for both data and voice calls. Be careful that other apps on your computer or smartphone don’t silently download updates etc. in the background or your units will be used up very quickly! Airtime sold separately.

Additional notes: At your request, GTIS can configure these terminals to limit internet traffic to only essential language development related websites, helping you control your airtime usage.
